FMCA Rally

This was the first rally for us and there was so much to do. The days were filled with seminars and the nights with entertainment. We past on movie night just to rest. Seemed like we were on the go from morning till night. The seminars and the exhibits were at the Expo Center downtown. The entertainment on Tuesday and Wednesday night were to be at the amphitheater outside the Sandia Casino but the weather did not cooperate and it had to be moved inside the Casino---good thing too---the temperature was in the 30s and it rained Tuesday night also. I did not take any pictures at the Casino so have none of the entertainment. Tuesday was a group called the Flamingos—a variety of music and dancing. Wednesday was B. J. Thomas who had the hit song “Rain Drops Keep Falling On My Head”, among many other hits. Of course while we were in the casino we had to sign up for their players card and spend some money. We actually played with their money and came out with about $20 each.

Each morning inside the big tent volunteers served coffee and donuts.image

Thursday morning after attending several seminars we moved our RV out of the rally area to the RPI outside of Albuquerque. Amarillo Texas 010

We wanted to be able to leave very early Friday without having to fight 2,000 other RVs leaving also. Not many people in the RPI and it was nice to have water and sewer after 5 days without at the rally site. Thursday evening we drove back to the Balloon  Fiesta Park to see the entertainment at the tent and the balloon glow show that was to be the end of the rally. There was to be about 7 balloons set up on the field and at night they “glow” when the heat and flame is on but due to the high winds only one balloon was able to be inflated. Amarillo Texas 031    That was the end to our first rally. We really enjoyed it and learning all we did at the seminars was really the highlight of our time there.  We met a lot of nice couples and bought some new “gadgets” for the RV.
